Famed US movie news outlet The Hollywood Reporter publishes rave review on Mohsen Tanabandeh’s latest drama ‘The Oath’.
The published review hailed Mohsen Tanabandeh’s latest film ‘The Oath’, describing it as the title that “has enough drama and vivid characters to find festival favor”.
‘The Oath’ narrates the story of a woman who organizes a busload of relatives to testify against her sister’s presumed murderer.
The article makes a distinction between Tanabandeh’s comedy ‘Guinness’ and his drama ‘Oath’, noting, “One could argue that ‘The Oath’ is hardly less surreal than the men who have to ride turkeys in ‘Guinness’. But here the stakes are much higher, particularly for the stalwart heroine Razieh (Mahnaz Afshar), and there is little in the way of comic relief”.
Tnabandeh is better known for his award-winning role in the film ‘Rona, Azim’s Mother’, a co-production of Iran and Afghanistan.
Mahnaz Afshar, Saeed Aghakhani, Hassan Pourshirazi, and Mehran Ahmadi are among the cast of the ‘Oath’.
Young attended the 2019 Fajr Film Festival as the special guest and picked Navid Mohammadzadeh as her favorite Iranian actor. She has published another review on Narges Abyar’s film ‘Night of the Full Moon’.
A short synopsis of the film also teases, “I swear on Niaz’s soul, if you seek vengeance, I will take the child away and divorce you. I swore on the life of our only daughter that I will.”
